The Research Libraries Branch sponsored three sessions at the 2008 conference in Naples which were attended by around 150 delegates. The first session was entitled Eastern European and Italian Research Collections and began with a survey on "Music Col lections in Croatia" by Tatjana Mihali from the National and University Library of Croatia, Zagreb. Firstly, she provided an outline of the different types of institutions holding music collections in Croatia: libraries, archives, museums, churches and monasteries, scientific/academic, educational, private collections and societies, sound archives. Among the collections of significance Tatjana included the following: Franciscan libraries in Zagreb, Dubrovnik and Split; St. Duje Cathedral library, Split; the National and University Library of Croatia, Zagreb; the Metropolitan Library Zagreb (today called the Croatian State Archives and Metropolitan Library); The Croatian Music Institute; The Institute for the History of Croatian Music (part of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts); the library in the Music Academy, Zagreb; the Institute of Folklore Research, Zagreb; the Museum of the City of Dubrovnik; Museum of the City of Split; the Museum for Arts and Crafts in Zagreb; Museum Slavonia, Osijek; the sound archive of Croatian Radio.
